The Towers
Climb 387 steps for panoramic Paris views
The twin towers of Notre-Dame rise 69 meters above the Parisian skyline, offering visitors who brave the 387 steps some of the most spectacular views of the city.
The North Tower
The North Tower is the taller of the two and houses the famous Emmanuel bell, which has been ringing since 1686. The tower climb takes visitors through the gallery of chimeras before reaching the summit.
The Gallery of Chimeras
Between the two towers at the level of the colonnade sits the famous gallery where the chimeras (often incorrectly called gargoyles) look out over Paris. These 19th-century additions by Viollet-le-Duc have become icons of the cathedral.
Visitor Information
Tower access requires climbing 387 narrow spiral steps with no elevator. Tickets should be booked in advance, especially during peak tourist season. The tower is not accessible for visitors with mobility issues.
